Charlotte

Charlotte

French afternoon at Szczepański Square. No fan of French music, food, wine or lifestyle will not pass indifferently by Charlotte - a Parisian style bistro, which has already received a cult status in Krakow.

Charlotte and couples looking for a romantic date, lovers of breakfasts eaten in the city, coffee lovers who cannot imagine a small black cup without something sweet, friends hungry for girl's chat, loners needing a place to work, and even mothers with children are satisfied, that they can put the cart next to a table on the street, and on cooler days, drive inside with it.

Have to admit, that the place has its charm, which consists of several factors. First of all, the location, on the Szczepański Square itself, between the market and the plants, it's hard to imagine a better location. Then high, an interior with two rooms giving the impression of being spacious, a charming mezzanine, huge windows and austere, eclectic decor. In a bright room, you can choose between sitting on bar stools under a window or a mirror, a great table, small tables, soft sofas and traditional chairs. The main hall is the most interesting, but supporters will also find a room in the basement and a large number of tables outside.

But it's not Charlotte's appearance that is the highlight; customers are attracted by the breakfast offer, where everyone will find something for themselves. You can choose between sweet rolls, croissants and cakes at very reasonable prices (the smallest cookies cost PLN 1, traditional do not exceed 10 zlotys), cereal with yogurt, and breakfast sets with eggs and bread, the latter is the restaurant's specialty - the selection of bread and baguettes baked on the spot makes you dizzy. And it contributes to the appearance, because Charlotte looks just as good as a French boulangerie or wine bar.

In addition to breakfast, you can get cold or warm sandwiches at any time, and of course wines and hot drinks. I had a big problem deciding on my order, but in the end I opted for a warm goat cheese sandwich, thyme and honey included 10 zlotys, and a coffee with rice milk and a madeleine costing 11 zlotys. I waited less than five minutes for my drink, for a sandwich a few minutes longer.

The choice turned out to be right. The bread tasted great, although in combination with the goat cheese it was a bit too greasy. The coffee turned out to be strong and aromatic, and the rice milk is tasty and extremely delicate. Only madeleine had a not very clear taste and too hard skin, but it made it perfect for dipping in coffee.

In the middle of the week, in the afternoon the place was not filled to the brim with people, so it had quite a nice atmosphere built with a bit too loud music. French, of course. I recommend it to fans of dining out. Because I don't have to ...
