Kos Restaurant

Another restaurant, which description we will take care of for you, is Kos, located in the Old Town of Gdańsk, formerly known as "Bistro Kos". You will find him at Piwna 9/10, vis-à-vis opisywanego już przez nas ziemniaczanego Baru Pod Rybą.

This place changed its menu quite significantly some time ago, which was previously very extensive, for this even canteen, which absolutely does not mean, that it wasn't tasty; the portions were large and cheap, and the food is delicious.

Currently, however, Kosa can be called a real restaurant. The restaurant is three-story, and its interior is dominated by white colors, gray and light wood. Apart from meat dishes, the menu also includes pizzas, flour dishes, soups and salads and a wide range of drinks. Dokładniej zapoznać się z nim możecie na stronie restauracji. During our visit, CDs by Lana Del Rey and Robbie Williams were dripping from the speakers, but we will leave it to you for evaluation, is it good, or wrong.

For starters, we ordered a drink. And, like it is me, I could not deny myself the compote, to this it turned out, that it appears in the menu in an economic version, i.e. in a liter jug. You only live once! The compote was made of red fruit, but the taste of cherries stood out very strongly in the foreground. As for the dimensions of the drink, Dominik followed in my footsteps, zamawiając litrową lemoniadę.

Dominik: And the lemonade was delicate. She didn't have much sugar, and lemon juice, I would bet one lemon per liter, maybe two small ones. As long as the taste was not very pronounced, so much visually the drink looked very nice. He was quite clear, and the pieces of flesh floating in it were tiny, as if shredded in a blender. I expected a heavier lemonade in winter, more loaded with lemon and sugar, but let's give honor to the restaurant: in the summer heat, this version would be perfectly refreshing.

I started my food with the starter: fried camembert cheese with pistachios. The breadcrumbs were made of something not very finely ground, perhaps from crushed corn flakes. Garnish was mixed lettuces and sprouts, sprinkled with red, slightly sour sauce (vinaigrette z malinami?). There was no pistachio until the cheese started to eat up; were hidden inside it!

In the case of the main course, ja zdecydowałam się na apetycznie brzmiącą Sirloin stuffed with dried tomatoes, served on truffle and mushroom sauce with rösti pancakes and salad. To, what's on my plate, was as follows: three pieces of tenderloin wrapped in a slice of bacon, inside them was half a dried tomato, and they were placed on top of the sauce, opaque and cream color, which also contained small pieces of bacon. I don't like bacon, so the sliced one finally landed on Dominik's plate, nevertheless, it gave the tenderloin a delicious aroma. Similarly, I do not like dried tomatoes, but I ate everything, because in this dish they did not irritate me. The meat itself was tender and tender. There were three rösti potato pancakes next to the meat rolls (Swiss cakes grated on a fine-mesh grater), quite thick, delicious, soft inside and golden around the edges. Also on the plate, there was a salad in a small bowl, with ingredients known and liked by me, but she remembered nothing, what I ate before. Well, it was a beetroot cut into centimeter cubes in mayonnaise with, it seems to me, a very delicate hint of horseradish. Connection, I wouldn't have thought of myself, but amazingly successful. The whole thing was topped with a handful of arugula, on which the cherry tomato was resting.

Dominik: moje danie główne stanowił Grilled pork neck served on a tasty Balkan sauce with baked potatoes and salad. The meat was tasty, but without any distinct aftertaste. I assume, it was spiced delicately after that, to make it taste better with Balkan sauce, and this one was delicious indeed. It contained mushrooms, paprika and celery (I don't remember other vegetables at the time of writing this post; perhaps I identified more of them while I was eating), I am not sure about the base. I know, that it should be eggplant with paprika, but I did smell rather well seasoned tomatoes. Regardless, however, whether the eggplant actually ran out, or just didn't sense him, the sauce goes very nicely with the grilled meat. As a salad, I was served Chinese cabbage with carrots and cucumber in cream. Not fancy, but the cooks managed to hit my taste.

As for the dessert, I really wanted a smoothie, które nazywało się Chocolate bomb (and in her: chocolate syrup, chocolate ice cream, milk, chocolate shavings), but unfortunately… after this delicious dinner, I just ran out of space. Well, it looked delicious, so maybe next time I'll try a smaller dish from the kids menu (What!) and cram it with that cocktail. Plus, there were plenty of fruit smoothies to choose from for dessert, ice cream or cheesecake.

As for us, Kos is one of the most pleasant places in the Old Town of Gdańsk, offering dishes, which we hardly make for ourselves as part of dinner. We also recommend the restaurant to young parents, because they will find a corner for their children there.
