Chaikola

Some time ago, at the end of last year, We came across an interesting looking drink on a supermarket shelf. His name was Chaikola, and for some reason he caught our attention. From time to time there is a curiosity similar to e.g.. Coca Coli, but made entirely from organic ingredients – such an example was Ubuntu Cola available some time ago (which I remember very positively, despite its horrendous price). Chaikola looked like a similar imported food curiosity.

Yet appearances are deceptive. Turned out, that Chaikola is a native product. Graphically, however, the packaging is in the top class and actually gives the impression of being of a higher shelf. Poor a bit, that there is an inscription on the ribbon above the logo it’s tea time it is white on a cream background and cannot be seen at all, but otherwise everything is really ok.

The drink is dark amber in color and looks more like tea than cola. It is also quite transparent – the haze is slight, no floating lids were found. The foam film remains on the surface.

The aroma was strong straight from the can, with interweaving sweet and sour notes, something like fruit candy, plus a delicate aroma of dry grass. There was a distinct lemon smell in the glass, sweet cola aroma, a hint of ginger and again dry grass flashed past. It was a bit like granulated tea, that you can get in vending machines with coffee and tea.

The taste of the drink is clearly sweet and lemon. The taste of tea is basically imperceptible, however, there is a clear tea tannicity, manifested by a feeling of tightening. Carbonation is initially at an average level, and the bubbles pleasantly tickle the esophagus. As you drink, your saturation drops to a low level.

The overall impression is absolutely positive. The drink is very interesting both in aroma, and in taste. It is certainly very refreshing and would be a great alternative to sweeter drinks in the summer. Chaikola did not make an impression on Marta, but for me, yes. I definitely recommend it.
